The J-1 Summer Work Travel (SWT) program provides University/College students with an opportunity to live and work in the United States during their summer vacation from college or university and also to share their culture and ideas with people in the United States through temporary work and travel experiences.

Eligibility :
- Currently enrolled on a FULL-TIME basis in a College or University.
- Between the ages of 18 and 30
- Able to speak and understand conversational English
- Minimum Semester GPA of 2.0
- Willing to work and explore the United States for up to 4 Months.
- Clean Police Record
- Your Institution /Courses must be accredited by the University Council of Jamaica

With your J1 Visa which you will receive before entering the United States, will give you the ability to travel and explore the entire USA. So you can have a trip to Las Vegas , then down to Miami , then Back up to the Big Apply New York City !
Even if your J1 Visa is expired you have a 30 days “grace period” to explore some additional places!

GET AN EXPERIENCE
All Participants will recieve pre-arranged Jobs to help with their expenses while in the United States. We fully understand that there are many Individuals who have saved a portion of their Income over the months during their program and return home with huge savings , however this program is not to maximize on earning/profit but rather gain cultural experience in the United States.

Share your culture with other Americans or J1 participants and learn more about their cultures as well !

Can I have a second job ? Yes, you can ! Second Jobs are allowed once approved by the Sponsor.

As a J-1 visa holders ,you are deemed as “non-resident aliens” during your stay in the United States and you are typically required to pay federal, state and local taxes. The Good thing is : You are also expected to file annual reports (also known as tax returns) with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

FAQ Summer Work and Travel
Where will I be working While on the program ?
We have carefully selected Companies and job positions in the Hospitality Industry like Hotels, Restaurants, Gift Shops, Theme Parks, grocery stores and much more !
Would I be alone with no help while I am overseas?
We will never leave you alone during your program , we will check up on you monthly to see how things are going.
Whats the pay like while on this program ?:
On an average, minimum compensation is $7.25 for non-tipped positions while for tip-based positions it is $2.13 per hour. Expected work hours is 32 to 40 hours per week. Some employer may pay 8-$15+ per Hour
Will I have to seek my own housing ?
All Jobs come with pre-arrange Housing . Housing rent ranges from $70-160 per week
What if I am not successful in my Sponsorship Interview ?
In the event you are not successful in your Sponsor or Employer Interview and you purchased the basic package you will be charge a fee for Sponsor change over , all the other packages (Premium & Platinum) allow you to change sponsor with no additional charges.
What if I will not be enrolled in semester two (2) but I am full-time in Semester (1) ?
Unfortunately , You must be enrolled Full-time in both semesters to participate in the program.
